FINAL-ly Done!

What a week it has been! I think it is safe to assume we are ALL glad that this week is over!! I'm pretty sure Bear wanted to trade me in for a new wife today, I was so grouchy because just like everybody else, I have been stressed to the max! Poor guy, I better make him his favorite cheesecake for putting up with me! Bear is very excited, he earned an A in chemistry! He worked his little tail off so he deserves it for sure. As for the rest of our classes we are not sure what the final scores are but we are still crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.

This weekend we are going to play play play! It is a tradition in the Hawkins family to make gingerbread houses so we are going to go to Bear's brother's house to do that. The picture above is our cute gingerbread house we made last year!

Well, it is 8:00 p.m. and Bear and I want to go home (we are at the school) to eat some dinner so ta ta for now! Have a great weekend and looooong break!!

Finished Product

Oh Christmas Tree

For Thanksgiving Bear and I traveled to Idaho to spend time with both of our families. It was a tasty trip I'll have you know. We had a turkey (of course), stuffing, cranberry salad, homemade rolls, sweet potato pie (like candy), potatoes and gravy, and a plethora of homemade pies to choose from. Bear and I chose pecan pie! After dinner we decided to go bowling with all of Bear's brothers and sisters and their children. We had a great time and even got a free bowling game because something went wrong with the lane we were using. Whoo Hoo! And Bear was on fire! He was doing so well and then our computer screen lost all of our scores.... :( bummer for him but good for me I was doing horrible!!

When we returned to school we remembered that we had a tree that needed to be decorated for the Jubilee of Trees. In case you don't know what the Jubilee of Trees is (because I didn't know) they have people sign up who want to decorate a tree then other people who have businesses come and bid on the tree they would like in their office. The money then goes to a charity foundation. So we dressed this cute little tree with blue white for UTAH STATE! We had a fun time doing it and have come up with a great plan for next years tree!

5 days left in the semester! Everybody hang in there we are SO close!!! Have a wonderful weekend and study hard!

Thank Goodness it's FRIDAY!

I think I may have miscounted for the countdown because I somehow counted that we have 12 days left and last week we had 15 so sorry if I got your hopes up! But look at it on the bright side we have less than two weeks (in school days) left! That is definitely something to be excited about! Yesterday we held our first Turkey Bowling Tournament and it went so well! We had twelve teams hefting large, frozen, stuffed animal polar bears down the "lanes". It was certainly more challenging than it looked! Bear woke up today and said that his buns hurt from throwing the frozen bears hahaha isn't that hilarious? My arms are feeling a bit sore too though... darnit. Nonetheless, we had a fun time! And a special thanks to Jen Gardner and faculty and staff, they provided us with a bunch of 2 liter bottles that we used for our bowling pins. Thanks a million! We hope to see Turkey Bowling become tradition for USU Brigham City. I will be posting pictures as soon as I can!

Some More Please

Bear stoked up our wood burning stove in the kitchen last night when we got home from school and work so it was nice and toasty warm while we did our homework. After we got finished with our stuff bear opened up the stove to find red hot coals. THEN, we both had this great idea to make S'MORES! So, at 10:30 p.m. we decided to make the all American treat and let me tell ya, they were delicious! I highly recommend this treat whether you are camping or not! :]

A Little Bit of Everything

15 DAYS to go! So this morning the Digis guy came over to our house to check our signal for the internet...we are like negative signal. Dangit. How are we supposed to get our homework done? I guess we will have to come up with plan B. But what the heck, who wants to do homework anyways right?! Good news: Bear earned the highest grade in his math class with a 69% on the last test they had. Ouch! Bad news: as for me, I think I earned the lowest haha shoot, better luck next time I hope. Oh so I promised to get back to you about the Heavenly Chocolate Mousse. It was a winner and the recipe is easy. You can check out the recipe here, Heavenly Chocolate Mousse.

For a brief while, Representative Rob Bishop came to our school to talk to a class about government. We slipped in for it and he sounded like a really nice fellow. We got a picture with him and everything! The only bummer is that I forgot my cord for my camera and can't upload pictures for y'all.

I don't know if everybody knows how much Bear loves George Strait but the other day when the CMA's were on, Bear got home in the middle of them and when George Strait didn't win anything he was nominated for, he was about ready to boycott all big media. How could somebody with more #1 hits than anybody.... ever, and who still gets multiple #1 hits on each album be beaten out by a teenie bopper that can't even hold a tune in a bucket. She sounds terrible live, but anyway, he was torqued. Poor George. We still love him. I just wish we could afford to be concert junkies and follow him around the country! Well, we are outta here, have a great weekend!

Finally the corn maze pictures! Sorry it took so dad-gum long.

The Offical Countdown

As of today we have 22 days left in the semester! That I can handle. This week has been pretty dull as far as events go. So Bear and I have been playing catch up on our classes. Looks like this weekend is going to be cloudy with a chance of math, folklore and geology. Hopefully more than a chance though :] it really needs to be done!

Well...I just took my second math test I'm praying that I did okay, I sure wish math was my thing. I am so ready to be done with that class. I'm sure everybody is very excited for the end of the semester and the nice long break we will have! So anyways...I'm kind of feeling bored because Bear just left for his chemistry lab so I think I am going to try a new recipe: Heavenly Chocolate Mousse! I can't wait to try it. I will let you know how it turned out next week! Tootle loo!

ZzZzZzZzZ...

He studies when he's not working and when he's not studying he's working! Poor thing. Sweet dreams!

Corn Maze

Can you tell we were a bit chilly? Are noses are bright red! Warm me up Bear! :)

aMAZEing Fun!

SO sorry about last week not posting a blog. Things have gotten a little crazy with all of the big events that have happened at our school and all the dad-gum homework! Whoa professors just calm down a bit. This week I have felt like quitting school but I came to my senses and decided that wouldn't be the best route so I'm still on board with the "education is good" bandwagon. Bear is feeling a bit overwhelmed as well but for some reason never gets too grouchy about it, probably because he is a guy and guys just don't worry like girls. On Monday we had a candidate come to the school so the faculty and students could ask him questions and today we have another candidate coming. Last Friday we held the cornmaze and had such a great turnout! And even better, it wasn't haunted. I wanna know who in the world PAYS to get scared?! Doesn't that seem a little outrageous? Oh get this, the other night Bear got out of bed to grab a drink of water. But, I didn't know that, so I got out of bed to see why HE got out of bed. And I must have startled him because he nearly punched me! Yikes! Stay out of Bear's way when he gets freaked out or else you will have a black eye! Now I know that if anyone breaks into our house he will go A-WALL on em. Guess what? Bear and I will have been married for one year on November 1st!! Everyone says that the first year is the hardest but it's been pretty dang good so hopefully the second is just as awesome. Well, I need to run to the other building to meet the second canidate so have a great Halloween everybody! P.S. I will be posting pictures soon!

Squeaky *C*L*E*A*N*

So today I get to work and find out that one of our cute little children has gotten the swine flu. So, we sanitized the room inside out, if there were germs in there they aren't there anymore cuz we attacked every one of them. LBA reeked of yummy bleach, so we called the cute facilities assistant to come put fans in our room. Don't worry that cute assistant is Bear! It's all good though. I think people get a little too worked up about the flu anyway. But not all is lost!! I am excited because I don't have class today OR tomorrow! Just think of all the house work that can get done!! If you didn't know, I have this crazy obsession of cleaning. everything. At least the things I can see. I'm only 5'2". My best friends are coming to visit this weekend! Any fun ideas of what we should do?

Bear is working SO hard in his classes. I'm so proud of him, he got a 90% on his chemistry test. He's always on the run. He even builds fires for us early in the morning so our house is nice and toasty warm. On Saturday he spent all day moving our firewood closer to the house so I think we are ready for the snow! Oh MAN, guess what?! K so Bear got this crazy old Soviet Union gun that has a long bayonet on the end of it. So now he runs around the house acting like he's a blood thirsty Russian. It is pretty dang entertaining, but we will probably need to go shoot it soon to get it out of his system. Well, I hope everybody has a great fall break! Don't do anything too crazy. :]

Governor Herbert

Every seat was taken today when the governor of Utah stopped by our campus. Clair and I had the opportunity to meet Governor Herbert and present to him a pamphlet that introduced the Brigham City campus. Governor Herbert was a very nice and genuine guy. He spent two hours talking to business leaders of our city, leaders of Brigham City, the community, and students and faculty, We are excited that our campus had such a great privilege to be a part of this experience!

We Scream for Ice Cream!

This week Bear and I had lots of fun getting students excited for Homecoming. On Wednesday we had a drawing to give away USU sweatshirts and t-shirts and it was a big success! Then on Thursday we gave tasty Aggie ice cream away to the students who wore Aggie gear. We were planning to have an activity everyday this week but we had to adjust a little bit because our director ended up having meetings the day we were going to have our student appreciation bbq. Then Friday we were going to go to the cornmaze but word has it, they aren't open yet! So... we decided to post pone these activities. Actually, this coming Monday will be the student appreciation bbq! We are still hanging onto summer even though it wants to slip away. Hey everybody don't forget to become a TRUE Aggie at midnight tonight! ;) Oh yeah just so everyone knows, I am an aunt! My brother and his wife just had their first baby last night. A little baby boy! I can't wait to see him!

Thank You!

This week has been absolutely crazy! Bear (oh "Bear" is Clair's nickname ever since he was little and that is what everyone calls him) is trying to balance school, work, and everything else that we manage to cram into our lives. For some reason we both have a huge problem telling people "no" haha but it makes our lives really exciting because there is never a moment to be bored. So my good friend Tara showed me how to make our blog super cute! This is way too much fun. Except, I want to make the blog glittery and girly but I don't think Bear would really appreciate that. We'll see how long that lasts. ;) So last week was Peach Days and it was a lot of fun minus the fact that there were a billion people there! The parade turned out really great and we had lots of volunteers, so thank you very much we appreciate the support! Today all of the USU employees had to attend a sexual harassment meeting, so now I'm wondering if Bear and I can hug at school...? I sure hope so! Anyways...we hope you all have a fun weekend!

oops...

So I tried to give my blog a new look and something bad happened. Needless to say, it is now under construction because everything is gone! Sorry about that!

Mmm...Candy!

Doesn't this candy look tasty!? I think we have enough...just a hunch. Come to the Peach Day Parade and we will be glad to share some with you! This week we have been working on getting everything prepared for the parade; we have several volunteers to walk with us and a bunch of little kids to toss in the back of the truck. It was fun driving down main street this week seeing people lay out their blankets and chairs staking out their favorite parade spot. They are all a bunch of crazies! Clair and I have never been involved in Peach Days so this is all new to us! Maybe next year we will camp out to save our spot, haha just kidding. Alright hope to see ya there!

Peach Days

Isn't that picture so cute?!Little kids from Little Brigham Aggies childcare joined the students for the Peach Day parade last year and had a blast. Clair and I are looking forward to the celebration this year, it's actually next weekend! Hansen Motors is lending us a truck for the parade so we are planning to load the back with candy and children to march down Main street. We actually need some adults to walk with us...so if you are interested let us know!

so far so good

The first week of school is already here and nearly gone. That's always nice :) So where in the world did our summer go?! I woke up cold on Monday morning! Anyways... Clair and I were shocked to see our parking lot so packed on Monday. We've been used to the summer when the parking lot is bare. But everyone seems to be ready to jump back into the swing of things. Clair is kinda concerned about his classes this semester, probably less playing and more studying! Which really cramps his style because he's been wanting to buy an 887 Nitro Express shot gun. Me on the other hand, I'm still not sure what my verdict is on my classes this semester. Gotta say, I wouldn't mind going shooting either! Oh so in my first post I told ya how Clair was trying to get into Calculus well I guess you have to earn a 95 on the accuplacer test in order to test into the class, which is pretty much unheard of! So he decided he would take the ACT again to try and get into Calc so he can get into the engineering program. Otherwise he will be a whole year behind. Cross your fingers.

School? Already?!

So...we have never done a blog before so bare with us we're trying to figure this thing out. We are getting ready for the Fall semester to start and not sure how excited we are to be back to the books but oh well right?! Clair has been working really hard on math this last month because he is trying to test out of trig so he will be able to take calculus this fall. His trig class was cancelled this summer yikes! As for me, I'm just ready to start the next semester I think. Hammer down and getter done. Well...good luck this semester hope all of your classes are enjoyable!Check Spelling
